ABOUT US

Belfast Ukulele Festival began (as all good ideas do) from a drink-infused conversation between a few ukulele enthusiasts from Belfast. We all are members of the fabulous Belfast Ukulele Jam (BUJ) – a merry band of 60+ uke players who meet once a week in the Deer’s Head bar in Belfast.

BUJ are well established in the Belfast music scene playing regularly at Festivals, Parades, Weddings, Council Events and more! We also busk for and play for local and global charities raising thousands of Pounds and the odd Euro for some amazing charities.

Somewhere among the big stages and dreams of stardom we discussed Belfast’s first EVER ukulele festival.

We’d been to many and played on stage at events such as the Ukulele Hooley in Dun Laoghaire and also the Grand Northern Ukulele Festival in Huddersfield. International stardom I think you’ll agree 🙂

So we just bloomin’ well did it! (so we did)

We are delighted to present some amazing acts, workshops, open mic’s and group playing sessions and to show off what Belfast has to offer! There will be some local attractions involved, give-aways, raffles and of course micro brewery beer of the finest calibre courtesy of our hosts at the Deer’s Head Pub.
